This art is a beacon, a bridge, a beckoning. May it bring you to the center of the circle with no circumference. May it bring you home.
In the art world, my style of painting has nestled quite comfortably within what is called the Visionary Art movement. It is my opinion that, akin to the Symbolists and the Surrealists of their day, Visionary artists seek to bring aspects of our collective unconscious out into the open, so that we may learn how to be better humans. I am looking inward for the solutions of our times, pulling form and color from nature and the mysterious archetypal realms of the subconscious found in dreams, mythology, meditation, shamanic experiences, rites of passage, and prayer. With paint, I aim to cast imagery that evokes a sense of awe and wonder, which in turn has the power to promote feelings of hope, and best of all: altruism.
The art I create is meant for the eyes, heart, and mind as soul sustenance. Like all art must be, my paintings are simply a means of transportation through the landscape of existence. For how can one paint the infinite? It is ever-changing and all encompassing; and yet, when we experience something eternal—something that strikes the chords of our essential nature—we seek some way to share what treasures we have found. Words falter. Religion strives. We keep going. I point my brush toward that inexplicable knowing.
